Catherine brings extensive expertise in administrative and environmental law (including town planning) and will strengthen and develop the firm’s activities in these fields. She will be in charge of the firm’s Administrative law team and will notably work closely with our Real Estate practice. Catherine will benefit from the support and expertise of the firm's other teams, as well as from its international network. After graduating from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Catherine obtained an LL.M. in Public International Law from the University of London. Prior to joining Verhaegen Walravens, Catherine worked in several prestigious corporate law firms (inter alia Linklaters and NautaDutilh). Since 1998, she has developed a broad experience in environmental law (e.g. soil pollution, permits, compliance and liability issues, climate change, noise nuisance, etc.) and town planning. Noteworthy is that Catherine’s practice covers the three Belgian Regions. She also specializes in administrative law matters (e.g. litigation before the Council of State), regulatory issues (e.g. food and safety, REACH, pesticides), energy law (e.g. energy performance of buildings, green certificates, biofuels) and constitutional law. She handles advisory work, transactions and litigation for private clients and public authorities. Catherine also has important legislative experience (e.g. drafting the implementing decrees of the new Brussels soil pollution legislation). She regularly speaks and writes on these subjects. Catherine works daily in French, Dutch and English. e-mail: cwijnants@verwal.net |
