Introduction   History   Mission

After working for many years with leading Benelux firm Loeff Claeys Verbeke (which later merged into Allen & Overy), founding partners Jacques Verhaegen and Philip Walravens decided, in 1996, to create their own law firm “VERHAEGEN WALRAVENS”.

Soon the firm was fortunate to bring together an exceptionally strong team of partners and counsels, many of whom were practicing with top Belgian and international law firms.

In 2004, the firm of J. Michel Verhaegen joined Verhaegen Walravens in order to contribute to the development of synergies, while both law firms remain two separate entities.

In 2007, Jean Pierre Renard and his team as well as Emmanuel Szafran joined the firm to strenghten and develop the firm’s activities respectively in corporate and commercial law and TMT/IP law.

In 2010, Catherine Wijnants joined the office as partner to reinforce and expand the firm’s administrative and environmental law practises (including town planning).

In 2011, Giulia Mauri joins the firm as partner. Giulia Mauri advises national and international clients on all aspects of aviation and transport law, including asset finance and leasing, safety regulations, carrier's liability and litigation matters.
